  • Q. What do you mean, your sheds are are "custom built"?
    A. Each shed is individually designed to meet your needs and preferences, including: size, door type, doors and window placement, roof styles, siding, animal doors, lofts, shelving, etc...

    Q. Can your shed match the standards of my homeowners association?
    A. YES! We have built in the most prestigious neighborhoods in Virginia, and we have always met or exceed their requirements.

    Q. What about permits and zoning?
    A. As a general rule, if the shed is under 200 square feet, no permit is required. If the shed is over 200 square feet it usually requires a permit and anchoring. Sheds over 256 square feet usually require a foundation, anchoring, and a permit. For zoning questions, contact your county.** Please note, Virginia's permit size for a shed has increased from 150 sq. ft to 200 sq. ft. as of 2011.

    Q. How long will I wait for my shed?
    A. Installation averages 2-4 weeks from date of purchase. This may vary if permits are required.

    Q. Who will assemble my shed?
    A. We are a family-owned business and we install all of the sheds ourselves.

    Q. Are you a licensed contractor?
    A. Yes, we are a general building contractor, licensed and insured.

    Q. Do you need me to do any site prep?
    A. Gravel or concrete foundations are not necessary, but we do ask that you spray for poison ivy if it would be a concern.

    Q. Do I need to have a site review before I begin the shed project?
    A. No, rarely is it necessary. We are that good!

    Q. How level must my work area be?
    A. We can work with even severe grades using an anchor kit.

    Q. How much clearance do I need around the work area?
A Dutch style sheds require 3 feet of work space on each side. For other sheds we only require 2 feet of clearance. Give us a call to discuss options with tight areas.

    Q. How close can the material be delivered?
    A. If materials cannot be delivered within 100 feet of the job site, an additional carry charge may apply.

    Q. Will my shed need to be painted?
    A. If the shed is not vinyl, then yes. We recommend self-priming paint as some surfaces are not primed. If you do not wish to paint the shed yourself, we offer painting packages. Also, if your shed comes with metal doors, these come primed and need to be painted within six months.

    Q. When will I receive the key to my shed?

    A. We will release the keys after we receive the final payment on the shed. We ask that the homeowner or someone be home at the time the shed is finished, before the crew leaves. Customers may also make prior arrangements with the office to pay the balance with a credit card if not able to be home.
